After leaving school Norman started an apprenticeship as an electrician with Charlesworth's. Norman was never satisfied with being just an electrician so he worked with others and eventually there was nothing much he couldn't do : electrician, plumber, joiner, motor mechanics, double glazing and central heating - although he hated decorating !
