The day before your funeral, I get a phone call from the lady co-ordinating the arrangements at the funeral directors. She says, Andrea can you talk, we have a problem. She tells me that she is check arrangements and has phoned the rectory at St. Michael's to be told that Father Charles is on a golfing holiday and is not due back till the day after your funeral. Honestly, if it wasn't so dire, I would of thought it was a windup. Cynthia was a gem, we had 7 hours of trying to contact the vicar to find out what was going on. At just after 7pm, she phoned to say that she had spoken to the Church Warden, and been informed that the Vicar was driving back the next morning in time to take the service at 1.30 from Warwickshire. She told me to pray there wasn't a traffic jam. I tell you, I had the Bishop of Chester's number on speed dial. If he had let me and you down, I was going to have him ! I had a sleepless night but knew we had John if all went pear shape and moved it to a methodist church. Even in death, you were still giving us grief.
